Welcome to Addy’s Hope! No matter what brought you to our site, we
pray you will read the stories and be moved to act. Whether you are
being called to adoption or just feel you want to do something to make a
difference, you have come to the right place!
We are not your typical organization. Addy’s Hope came into existence
when John and HollyAnn Petree lost their Sierra Leonean daughter,
Addy, to cholera during their adoption process. God used this horrific
event for His good causing the Petrees to see adoption as a way to save
lives from sure death in the less fortunate countries in Africa that are still
struggling. Since 2004 when the Petrees answered God’s call and
opened Addy’s Hope, God has transformed our vision and call over and
over. We began completing adoptions in Guatemala in 2005. God
quickly called us to Africa where we opened our Liberia program in 2006.
Our first two families traveled to Liberia in April 2007 bringing home five
children. Since then, Addy’s Hope has been blessed to be used of God
to walk with many more families and see 34 children come home to their
forever families here in America.
Since our inception in 2004, God has shown us that the physical life here
on earth is not really His biggest concern for these children. Yes, these
children need to be saved from the conditions that can take their earthly
life, but a much greater enemy than poverty, poor medical conditions and
even starvation threatens these children. There is an enemy seeking to
destroy these children here on earth and in eternity. These children
need a Savior! They need an intimate relationship here on this earth with
the Savior they will spend eternity with if they choose to accept that free
gift.
There are many organizations working to place children in need in
wonderful families, and we are so thankful for each of these
organizations. It will take all of us no matter what religion or creed to
solve the world’s orphan crisis. But we believe God has called us to a
very specific goal in our adoption ministry. He has called us to walk by
faith in obedience and trust to place children in Godly families who will
introduce these children to their Savior and teach them about Him so that
they can have an intimate relationship with Him. We believe God is
raising up warriors for His kingdom in the many children being adopted
into Godly families in this present age. If you are interested in adoption,

It is not our belief that every child in Africa, even those in poverty, need to
come to America. It is this belief that has birthed our other ministries and
continues to birth more. We no longer define ourselves only by
adoption. Over the past four years, God has refined our hearts and
opened our eyes to the severe need in Africa as well as America! We
have a heart for people. We want to be the hands and feet of Jesus to
the “least of these”. We believe fully in the power of the Body of Christ
when we as His followers work together. That is why you will see so many
programs in the works during this exciting time at Addy’s Hope. God has
sent us many people who have a passion for God and the call He has
placed on their lives! We have welcomed them into our family, and they
have allowed God to work through them to touch lives. This is God’s
agency, God’s work and God will receive the glory.
We may only be able to place 20-30 children a year in homes in America,
but there are millions more in need that will remain behind as God has
destined. And God is showing us the need reaches far beyond just the
children. So many people, women, men and children, are in need. Many
are in need of the things so many of us take for granite: food, shelter,
clothing, and education. But many more have a need of the Hope we as
Christians have. We cannot turn our back on these needs and call
ourselves followers of Christ. Therefore, God has called us to broaden
our scope of ministry.
